Joe Rogan's Sixth Street club at the center of the Austin boom
Joe Rogan opened the Comedy Mothership on Austin's Sixth Street in March 2023, and it instantly became the gravitational center of the city's comedy boom. Housed in a renovated historic theater downtown, the club runs two rooms — Fat Man and Little Boy — with lineups drawn from the wave of national-headliner comics who relocated to Austin.
The Mothership is the home of Kill Tony, the live-taped open-mic show that has become one of the biggest platforms in stand-up, and its regular lineups routinely feature comics who sell out theaters on the road. Drop-ins from Rogan and his orbit of podcast regulars are common.
